First self finish, gifts for friends

I asked how to make cording in this sub and it helped a lot! Now my latest struggle is stitching the two sides together with a curved needle. I got so impatient that I glued these two but I would love to figure out how to use the transparent thread. Does anyone have recommendations for a transparent thread that isn’t so thin that it’s impossible to use?
