Legitimate & Illegitimate

We know that Jean Christopher Prince Napoléon is agnatic descendant of Jérôme Bonaparte and there therefore great+ nephew Of Napoleon I. But he’s the current head of house Bonaparte

Then we have Count Nicolas Walewski who is at the moment vice president of the Napoleon foundation, he was invited to Jean Christopher Bonapartes wedding years back. And he as spoken at some Napoleon events etc. So both branches are acquainted with each other. He is agnatic descendent of Napoleon I though the through the illegitimate branch. To discuss that ,we know That the legal structure of the old empire is no longer in place anyway, but in a hypothetical situation , can Jean Christopher or prince Napoleon and Head of the House Bonaparte just publicly recognize him as a legitimate Bonaparte, if he chose too? It doesn’t have to be his heir as he already has a son. But hypothetically as head of the house could he do it? Can he also give titles to other family’s etc ?Something cool to think about.
