When you’ve got a whopper of a name

I feel like this needs to be stated somewhere because I’m sure a lot of people have their own version of this.

I’ve got a whopper of a name. Antigone Judith. Antigone is the incest baby of Oedipus and ultimately commits suicide in her tragic play, Judith for st Jude who is the patron saint of hospitals and lost causes.

Fam considering my many health issues in multiple areas I’m pretty sure my parents decided to tempt fate and fate was fucking tempted

Also if I had a nickel for everyone who mispronounces my name I could afford adequate mental health care.

Anyone else with a really loaded name? How do you carry it? Do you use nicknames. I’ve been desperately trying to get people to call me Tig but people normally called me “Antigone” or “Anti” which sounds weird because we also use the term “Auntie” to refer to people respected in the community who are older than you. So that can get confusing.

At least Antigone sounds pretty once you know how to pronounce it.
