What is this guy?? (Moomin alphabet Ä)

Apparently he might appear in the book "The Exploits of Moominpappa" (Finnish: Muumipapan urotyöt, Swedish: Muminpappans bravader: berättade av honom själv) in the form of a drop cap. I've checked the Finnish version, but the letter Ä doesn't appear there.

It's kind of funny I can't find their name since companies have turned them into jewelry, for example; ergo, this guy has some value within the Moomin realm.
