Not many players active in MHW ?

Hello everyone,

So I started the game a few weeks back, and finally hit the master rank. I managed to make an armor that helped me through the early MR, but I'm hitting a wall and am stuck vs Nargacuga and Glavenus. I tried using SOS flares, but I have never seen anyone joining. Furthermore, I tried to join online lobbies, but players are either AFK or kicking me right away. Additionally, I found that there were not many lobbies overall (like a full page at max).

So I thought, maybe am I missing something ? Is the game region restricted ? And as for people not joining my SOS, are the quest too low level and not interesting ? Or am I missing an online etiquette ?

EDIT : I'm playing on PC, so that might be a thing
EDIT 2 : My timezone is GMT+2 so that may play as well ?
