This guy could have “married” anyone for his scheme yet he chose an older woman with a cop for a son?

I know it’s a silly nitpick but it bothers me lol. Lole if he just did any thinking at he could just marry someone who didn’t have a connection to the police right? Or even tell them about the plot to steal the gold and then just kill them after anyways.
