Suggestions for Block Heater Cord Protection

Hello Reddit,

Recently, my block heater cord cracked in half due to the cold and there was exposed frayed wiring. I can't believe it cost almost $300 to replace. First I had to go to Toyota to purchase a block heater kit and have another shop install. In terms of maintaining the cord from now on, how can I make sure the exposed plastic part is protected? Should I buy a cord covering?
