Is this really grounds for divorce?

I asked my husband what he considers grounds for divorce, and he replied with two scenarios.

The first one he mentioned, was attempted murder. So if I ever tried to kill him. And honestly this really struck me as an extremely odd response. But completely agree this would be grounds for divorce.

However...

The second reason, he said if I tried to hold him back in life. And he went on to say if he ended up having to go government assistance/support, he would leave.

Yes, attempted murder would be grounds for divorce but I'm not understanding his second reason. I thought marriage was for richer and poorer?
