Question about clutch replacement on 2014 Mazda
My wife's car is a 2014 year old Mazda sedan with 55k miles, which is mostly from city driving. My wife and I alternate cars a couple of times a week, meaning I drive the manual car 2-3 times per week ( for a short commute of maybe like 20 miles per day). We learned recently that her car needs a clutch replacement, and the repair shop told my wife that it's because someone most likely rides the clutch too hard. My wife has driven manual cars her whole life and taught me how to drive a stick. I'm an okay driver when it comes to manual and probably do ride the clutch too much (which I will change).
When I look online, I see some internet discussion that says a clutch replacement around 60k is fairly standard. My wife and the repair shop talk about this clutch replacement as being something very unexpected (as in it shouldn't happened until like 100-150k miles). Could yall please give me any insight into whether the clutch replacement at 60k is unexpected? Thanks yall, just trying to see how bad of driver I might be.
