[R] [Federated Learning] Stuck in the Valley of S*** during my final semester of master's thesis. How do I get out?

I had a full blown panic attack yesterday after speaking to my adviser and upon further reading I realized I'm stuck in the Valley of S***. I'm trying to do original research on/using Federated Learning and I'm on track to graduate this May but I feel like I'm either hitting a lot of brick walls or everything I think about is being already worked on by entire teams of people who are far more experienced and competent researchers than I am. This is my first time trying to get any kind of original research done, and I just feel stuck. Can anybody relate or have advice on how I can proceed? I have some ideas for things I could use Federated Learning for, but I don't know if I'll be able to do them justice and if it'll be good enough for publication.
