New Suitcases - Moving away from Tumi?
Travel around 25-40 trips a year. In 2015, got a Tumi alpha bravo nylon carryon and hard shell check.
Using and packing the Tumi, 0 complaints. Zipper, rolling, etc top nothing. Solid aesthetics.
However, my stuff looks like hell. Each piece had multiple warranty claims. Thought I was buying luggage for life and it’s def 10 years IMO.
Would have probably been content to stick with Tumi, but the $600 carryon is like $1,000 now. Made me rethink things.
Lately, I’ve been thinking I go “cheap” and see how long it lasts?
I see Away everywhere. For $300 and a lifetime warranty, that has my attention.
Level 8 stuff looks cool, but so cheap it’s lacking internal packing features or the shell will break?
I also see Quince aluminum in that price range, which feels too cheap not consider?
Travel Pro is supposed to be amazing for the price.
Nomatic has a nice looking new case in that range too.
Any heavy traveler want to weigh in? Most curious, how good are the warranties? Are they real or will say it’s baggage claim mishaps and to buzz off?
Carl Frederick and Briggs and Riley are both in the “old Tumi” price point and seem to offer a lifetime warranty too vs 5 years for Tumi.
In summary I’m all over the map
