Complicated Family Situation

My dad has life insurance. He recently passed away and I am one of the beneficiaries, also my sister and my brother.

We have a complicated family relationship. Both siblings somewhat hated me while also my mom also tolerates their abuse. My mom decided to let my older brother handle all of the Death Benefit Claim Cheques, but the rules are that the cheques can only be given directly to the Beneficiaries first. There is no Family Trust or Will written exactly for this situation. My brother wants to deposit all the cheques under his bank account. I don't think that's how this works.

How can I properly deal with this situation? What are the usual Life Insurance rules when it comes to handing out Death Benefit Claims?

All advices are welcome.
