Pausing college, getting a job?

Hello all, I want to start this off saying i’m 21 years old. I’ve only been in college a year but I can tell it’s draining the life out of me.

I’m aware a work setting probably won’t be much better but I’m unsure what to do. My academic advisor says due to my performance maybe it’s best to just get a job and I’m considering it.

I talked to my mother and she immediately disapproved of stopping college to work (not negatively) and even though she says it’s my choice and she supports no matter what, I am afraid to disappoint anyone.

I’m leaning more towards getting a job, but i’m still on the fence. If I do, what are some good beginner jobs that don’t deal with fast food/retail?

Embarrassingly, I was sheltered up until about 3-4 years ago so I haven’t had a job besides working at my moms place and I don’t really have the experience.
