Corrupted cd or faulty disc drive?

My wedding photos are on a CD from 2003, and my disc drive is able to show all of the files, but not read them. When I attempt to open the files, it says that it’s either the wrong format or the file is corrupted. I was able to copy one with the smallest file size (81kb) onto my desktop. When I open it, it shows up briefly before switching to a different photo I have saved on my desktop. I successfully uploaded the image to my iCloud with no difficulties or picture-changing when I open it. I attempted to upload the second smallest sized photo, but it said iCloud cannot upload folders, which is strange because the file type says JPG. Is this is problem with my disc drive or entirely the disc itself? I have a Lenovo Ideacentre AIO from 2016 with a DVDRW disc drive. Any input helps.
