Company that has subsequently dissolved as left property at my house (Scotland)
2 years ago we engaged with a contractor to do work at our house. The work wasn’t completed satisfactorily and we took the limited company to court where a decision was made in our favour due to them not showing up. They didn’t contest this and ask to go back again so we have a summary decision in our favour for around £1500.
When we tried to collect we were met with a brick wall. Next thing I knew the company was dissolved. They didn’t make me aware, as a creditor, that they were beginning winding up proceedings.
On top of this, they have left building materials on our driveway. They claimed during initial communications they were worth around £1000, however my own research suggests they’re only worth about £150-200. It doesn’t surprise me they over inflated the cost of them.
From what I can tell property of a dissolved company transfers to the crown. However, from what I can see in Scotland they only deal with cash and land.
What happens to these materials? Can I just get rid of them? A friend has asked if they can have them.
I really don’t want to get in touch with the company I was dealing with as they were rude and aggressive. Technically they no longer exist anyway although I still see their company advertising on Facebook.
