England hours of rest between shifts
So as noted on my contract and on the .gov website, I have the right to 11 hours rest between shifts. However my work never honour this. For example, yesterday I finished work at 11:07pm, and today I started at 7:55am. My shift yesterday was a closing shift, therefore ‘you get out when you get’, and then today was an open.
Now I have a few questions. - because the .gov website says I have the ‘right to’ does this mean it doesn’t have to be given to me by any law? - when I’m a closing shift the time on my online rota always ‘9:30pm’ rather than ‘close’ or ‘11pm’, is this fair to lie about your scheduled work time, and make you work past this by several hours? - following my last point, do you think that scheduling someone for a shift that looks like they will finish at 9:30pm, but they actually finish at 11pm could be a way of my manager hiding that we are not getting enough rest between shifts from an outsiders point of view if say HR looked at someone’s rota?
