How to navigate severe bullying at work

I joined my current company shortly after my undergrad and accepted a low-paying role (40% less than my previous job) because the manager said the first six months would just be training. However, two months in, I’ve been overloaded with responsibilities, screamed at for taking a sick day (because apparently, all client work stopped without me), and constantly belittled by the manager. He’s made unprompted personal comments about my financial situation or my parents, accused me of being selfish in meetings completely unprompted and randomly, and even asked employees to raise their hands if they agreed.

On top of this, the company has unreasonable policies like cutting half a day’s pay/leave for being even a SECOND late (which wasn’t disclosed before joining). He also keeps threatening to “replace” me completely out of the blue during his screaming sprees, but he doesn’t even let me get a word in. The environment is toxic, affecting my mental health, and the pay isn’t worth it.

HR brushed it off as him being “harsh because I’m a fresher” and later admitted he’s known for this behavior and lies about increments. I’ve been offered a way better job (double the pay), but the new company can’t wait for the 3-month notice period in my contract. HR even suggested informally that I should abscond because of how terrible the manager is and because he’s known for not accepting notice periods.

What’s the best way to leave without facing legal trouble? I can’t stay here any longer.
