I am starting to think I’m losing my sanity

I recently started working at a mid-sized regional ID firm. And I’m starting to think that maybe I’m out of touch or inexperienced.

I started at this firm back in mid-November. In one of my cases, mediation was not scheduled with us back in October. Somehow, a week before mediation, the scheduling assistant realized that mediation was scheduled in this case. However, on the same day that the mediation is occurring, there is another mediation in one of my cases.

My supervising partner has decided to handle both mediations. He told the scheduling assistant he would go between both mediations throughout the day.

That’s not normal, right? He could ask for coverage. I’ve done dozens of mediations, and he isn’t asking me. He wants to handle both. At other firms I’ve worked at, the partner would just have me handle one of the mediations while they handled the other. Which I’ve always assumed was the standard protocol for scheduling.
