What are some of ridiculous rules you had in school growing up?
I went to school in 2000’s. A CBSE school. Thinking back I feel like some of the rules we had were absurd.
- Boys and girls were not supposed to talk to each other because teachers told us boys and girls can never be friends.
- We had 2 sections A & B. Mostly every year they mixed these sections. And we were not supposed to talked to our friends in other sections.
- Even on breaks we should be in line in the varandha of the school and girls and boys should have separate lines.
- We were not supposed to have any social media accounts. And they checked regularly
- I was hospitalized for a week due to an severe fever and infection and didn’t perform well in the exam that happened while I was sick and the teacher called my parents and told them I was distracted.
- In 8th and 9th standard I was going through some serious shit back home. So I happened to score less marks than usual. However my teacher decided to make me stand up in front of the class and humiliate me and said I did not score good scores because I liked a boy. Mind you I was a scared girl who did not dared to break any rules. A boy liked me and for some reason he was not in fault I was.
Was this normal in every school or was it just our school. And if you have any similar experience do share. just curious.
Edit: I remembered a few more. We were supposed to bring spoons to eat our lunch. If we didn’t we got in fined. We were also fined if we were caught speaking in Malayalam.
One of my friends had bad cramps and heavy periods. She had a couple of accidents in school and she got in trouble for it because she was not careful and didnt plan properly
