Is Hiroshima worth 1 day detour?

Hello reddit, I'm going to be traveling to Japan in late August for work and am trying to plan a vacation for my partner and I afterwards. We had initially thought it would be good to visit Hiroshima, but I am second guessing this idea and hoping for some outside opinions. Is it worth it to take the trip down there and are there better recommendations in the Kyoto or Tokyo area (or anywhere in between)?
