Suggestions for Japan with 1 month to plan?

I recently found out I am traveling to Japan in late August/early September for a work trip and am planning a 10 day vacation for my partner and I afterwards. Given I only have a months notice, what are some popular attractions that require advanced planning/tickets?

Here are some attractions we've already found that look cool:

• Studio Ghibli Museum
• Pokemon Center
• Kaiyukan Aquarium
• Owakudani

We are thinking of visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, but are open to other cities.

Also, any general recommendations would be appreciated as I've been reading through the JapanTravel subreddit and it's a little difficult to parse a lot of the itineraries/comments since I don't know what most of the places mentioned are without googling.
