9 cities in 8 days
I just got back from a trip to Italy where I visited 8 cities + San Marino in 8 days and it was perfect (for me). I stayed in Florence each night and took a day trip to each different city.
Day 1: Landed in Florence. Visited the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and went back to my favorite food spot in the world, Panini Toscani.
Day 2: Train to Venice in the morning. Got the day pass for travel and took some boats around the canals. I went to Piazza San Marco, and then just wandered around Venice for the rest of the day.
Day 3: I went to Modena for my first ever fine dining experience at Francescana at Maria Luigia.
Day 4: I spent the day in Bologna eating all sorts of incredible pasta and gelato all day long.
Day 5: I went to Rome. Saw the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and the Vatican. Didn’t have time for tours but I’ve already been to Rome before and done it all. I mostly wanted to eat at the incredible restaurants in Rome.
Day 6: I went to Pisa to see some leaning tower which I guess is pretty famous.
Day 7: I took the train to Rimini and then the bus from there up to San Marino. Many of the restaurants were closed and a few had signs saying that tourists weren’t welcome. The views were spectacular. I visited all 3 of the towers. Unfortunatly it took a long time to get to San Marino and back, even on the Frecciarossa, so I didn’t have any time to check out Rimini.
Day 8: For the last day, I took an early train to Naples and got a pizza there before heading back to the train station to catch the Circumvesuviana train to Pompeii.
Overall it was a very fast paced trip, but I got to eat at every place that I wanted to, and got to see all the spectacular views of Italy that I wanted to see. It was a very successful trip.
