Use 3rd party temp instead of smart thermostat temperature?

I have a smart thermostat connected via Homebridge.

Is there any way to tell HomeKit to ignore the thermostat’s temperature and use a different temperature sensor instead?

Explanation: the thermostat is in a hallway on the 2nd floor and the temperature in my daughter’s bedroom is quite different.

I have a Qingping temperature sensor in her room. Ideally I’d use HomeKit to keep her room within a certain temperature range.

Currently the only thing I can do is create a clunky automation that changes the setting on the thermostat based on her room’s temperature. But it would work seamlessly if I could substitute the Qingping sensor for the thermostat’s sensor
