cost to put springs on

I went to a family friend mechanic, to help me replace all 4 of my springs. The whole job took around 3 hours, and he charged me $400. Mind you I helped with the whole process didn’t leave his side once. I already gave him $200, but now i feel like I’m being joshed, or is it reasonable to get charged $400.
