Can someone explain to me the purpose of Ellis?

Since season one he did fuck all. He doesn’t have visions or are connected to the place like Sara or Thabitha, every time they have a project or something to fix or solve he never helps or appears to be of use, the only thing he supposedly did was getting Fatima pregnant, but was that even him? On top of everything he’s always getting hurt or on somebody’s way. I’m not saying he’s a bad person or character, but… whatcha doing gurl
