From Feral to Couch Potato
I trapped a feral cat at the end of October. It was cold and we had a spare bedroom so I brought him in. After a minor mishap of me letting him out of the trap right away (not a good idea) and there being an open vent (even worse) we got him retrapped. I bought a pet playpen and kept him in there for a couple weeks while he acclimated to the house. It was all so new and I was so stressed that he wouldn’t adapt. It took weeks, and he would barely come out when I would feed him. And he hid under every little thing.
Finally I had to get him neutered through a TNR program near me. It was a traumatic experience for him, and we definitely regressed. But after he was neutered I moved the playpen into my bedroom. After a couple more weeks I decided to let him out into my room. That was the end of December and now he has progressed so rapidly into a sweet little couch potato 🥔 😍 we aren’t on open petting terms yet but I feel that’s on the horizon as he is sitting next to me on the couch with his head against my leg. I’m so proud and so happy that he has come around - and when I started this journey I never thought that this would be possible. I just wanted to celebrate the milestones 🥹🥹
