I finally figured out a succinct way to explain why using the word 'female' instead of 'woman' is misogynistic

You can use the word female to describe any species. When you use the word female to describe a human female, instead of the word woman, you are taking away the implication that we are human.

Sorry if this is an obvious and/or dumb post, but I've personally never been able to put a finger on why hearing the word female in reference to women was so goddamn annoying until I had a eureka moment in the shower about 20 minutes ago and wanted to share. If someone has an even more succinct explanation that I can snipe to clap back with when I hear this shit that would be great.

Edit: apparently I've signaled to some transphobes with this post, which was not my intention at all. Piss off transphobes, you're not welcome here.

Edit 2: yes female firefighter, female actor, female patient ect is acceptable. The word that follows female is what implies that you are talking about a human being. I'm talking about when people replace the word woman with just female.

Ex: "females are xyz" vs "women are xyz"
