How do people choose their next series?

How do people choose what to read next when it comes to long (even just trilogies) series?

I have so many on my tbr but go through a mini breakdown trying to choose one and end up not reading any and either read a stand-alone or a different genre lol.

Do you just spin a wheel? Have a list of priority? Hellppppp
