Can someone explain why bottles sterilized in a pot can’t touch the sides of the pot??

Current mama to a 6 week old perfect baby girl🩷🩷 I have only breastfed so far and may begin incorporating a few bottles per week- can someone explain this to me though? I don’t get it? Like what does touching the sides of the pot do to undermine sterility?😭😭
