An open letter to Tarkov players
This game is a very interesting social experiment. The idea that removing all consequences for being a horrible person and in fact getting rewarded for it has brought out the true nature in people that have no business being part of a functioning society.
I have less than 150 hours in the game and have managed to accumulate millions in cash and a full stash of god tier loot and guns. Just by scaving casually. The idea of extract camping or ratting seems so unnecessary that I can only deduce that these people truly do this to make others miserable, because they are miserable.
On the other end of the spectrum, Random acts of kindness like helping a new player extract, complete a task or offering loots just to make someone’s day provides hope that not all humanity is doomed.
Think about the reason why people play video games. For most adults, it’s an escape from stress and hardships of the day. You sitting in the same spot hiding for 20 minutes just to pop up and kill someone that just spent that time surviving the map seems so unnecessary and sociopathic. This is not for profit as you can find everything that you need quite easily.
In conclusion, Don’t be a POS. Thank you all for your time.
