Stopping a charge

Hello everyone. I have a couple question that I think I know the correct answer to after reading the manual and old posts, but some info does seems a bit contradictory so I just wanted to make sure. When is it safe to end a charging session by just unplugging the cord from the car without ending the session either through the phone app, infotainment screen, or the charging station?

I ask because the manual appears to say AC charging can be stopped by either unplugging the handle or by pressing "stop charging" in any of places mentioned earlier. I would assume it is still better/safer to press stop charging than to just unplug. I would be fine always doing so, but I found myself in a situation I could not stop the AC charging with a button. My phone wasn't accepting the button press at first and button wasn't even on the charging screen in the car. Does the stop charging button only appear in the infotainment screen for certain types of charging?

Sorry if these is a stupid question, but I am a bit of a worrier at times.
