Is civil really that bad?
I'm a first year engineering student and my grades are good enough to go into any engineering major. I ended up deciding I want to do mechanical engineering with a minor in aerospace, but part of my decision was influenced by how much trash everyone talks about civil. I feel like I'd personally enjoy it, even though I can't do my aerospace minor with it.
I really do love statics, but I've heard so many horror stories about civil engineers having super boring jobs and hating all the career options for themselves that I'm afraid of going into it. I think I'd like the design aspect of it and the fact that it's less saturated when compared to mechanical.
TLDR: for people who are in civil, why did you pick it? And what would you tell people who are thinking about it? Are the jobs really that boring? Also, why does everyone hate on civil so much?
For the people in mech, is job saturation really something to worry about in this field?
Thanks!
