What’s the strangest bands you’ve seen lumped into Emo before

For me I’ve seen bands like 30h3,Metro Station,Millionaires on a list of Emo bands you need to know which they are definitely not Emo also Switchfoot I’ve seen that listed as an Emo band which maybe because they have some somber stuff but i don’t really see it though also I’ve seen on an article that mentioned Emo music talking about the mainstream pop punk artists from the 2000s the biggest of all times ,those are definitely don’t really have characteristics or undertones either ,it’s just funny seeing that stuff
