Enemies burning my inventory

Hello people !
This might be a stupid question but the more I play Elin the easier it gets for me to get really powerful. I rarely see a monster strong enough to "scare" me. The exceptions are all the Red Baptists, Hellhounds and other monsters able to burn my items.
Do you have any tips for dealing with them in a comfortable manner ? I usually back up (fairy + lulwy give me ton of speed to run away) drop my most valuable items on the ground and then go back to fight them.
I do not wish to save scum and play on the difficulty that doesn't allow you to manually save just to make sure I don't use it. :D
