To the people giving me the finger and yelling at the poor kid who was stuck on a median on ellerslie after avoiding an accident. You Suck!

Just a rant. Feel free to hit the TL;DR at the bottom.

I was coming home on ellerslie and I noticed that traffic was unusually backed up and down to one lane near 85th.

As I got closer I could see a young man was high-centered in the meter deep snow on the median.

It wasn't AT the corner, so it was pretty obvious that this kid had hit his brakes to avoid something and the sheer ice that covers every inch of the street sent him in a direction he wasn't prepared for. As could happen to anybody.

His back end was blocking one lane, and he was diligently trying to get himself out the jam. but not only did nobody get out to help. They were actively honking, flipping the bird, and yelling racist shit at this poor, confused, kid.

I whistled and waved at him to wait. Then I whipped around the corner and found a safe spot to park my truck and hoofed it around the corner as fast as I could to help.

It wasn't a big deal. The snow was fairly loose, and all he needed was a bit of rocking and a good solid push to get out. But while I was helping people were yelling at me, and giving ME the finger.

As the car was inching out one lady stopped to let us get out, but an old piece of shit in a blue pickup (I hope you read reddit you gigantic fucking stain on the bedsheets of humanity) honked his horn at her and revved his engine, so she pulled through. PoS then hit the gas as hard as he could and missed the car by a couple of inches at max. If the kid had not let off the gas at that moment... I might be dead. For helping a stranger...

What the fuck edmonton? This is Canada. We have all been stuck in snow at some point.

Our culture was built around helping people survive the harsh winters, and even if you don't know your neighbor's name you would never begrudge a push out of a jam, or some booster cables.

If these fucking people had been around 100 years ago they would never have survived a single winter by being so god-damned selfish.

Fucking Hell, Edmonton - Be better!!!!

TL:DR - Someone was stuck on a snowy median, people just honking and yelling racist garbage instead of helping. Then yelled at me for helping them get unstuck and free up a lane of traffic.

Fuck them. They Suck.

[Edit to add: It is not all doom and gloom. In my anger I forgot to mention that just moments after we got the car free two other dudes came around the corner intending to help. If you dudes see this - You Rock]

[Edit2: Wow! I posted this in our little sub as a way to vent and get it off my mind expecting a couple of stories and a few comments. I am trying to read/reply to any comments directed at me, but work comes early and I need to get some stuff done. Just know that I think you are all awesome, and if we are all a bit more awesome then the whole city can be better.]
