Player Career Mode can't stay at current club

My problem is that in player career mode I'm currently at Newcastle and want to stay there but at the end of the season it only gives me the option to transfer elsewhere. I have all the necessary objectives completed to stay at the club and it still doesn't let me. Is there any solution to this problem or is this an unavoidable bug?
