Convertible compartment issues

Hey everyone! So I have a 325i convertible, and the most difficult part is being able to put the manual top down by myself because the compartment that the top goes in wont stay back while I'm folding the top. Because of this, I always have to have a second person help me put the top down which is inconvenient. Does anyone know a fix to this?
