Has anyone else experienced a worsening of dry eye symptoms in the days/weeks after IPL?

I just finished my second IPL treatment for dry eye and after both sessions I've notice burning and irritation in my eyes that starts peaking about two days later. Today I couldn't even put my contacts in because my eyes got really red and started watering. After the first session, I asked my optometrist about this and she said she believed it was allergies, not the treatment. However, my eyes were actually feeling pretty good before the first treatment because of all the other at-home treatments I was following including fish oil, fish oil eye drops, less contact lens wear, and twice daily hot compresses on my eyes. I did start taking allergy medications because it's true that a lot of people are complaining about that where I live right now, but I find it odd that the same thing has happened twice directly after my treatment. I just don't know if this is normal or not. I wear eye shields for the sessions and the expression doesn't happen until the fourth treatment, so we haven't even done that yet (I've heard the expression can cause similar issues).
