Was DAIMA mishandled?
I decided to rewatch DAIMA from scratch after watching the 15th episode and it's pretty surpring how quick it progress past episode 7 which is pretty odd considering how globe trotting was going to be a major element of the show, which made sense considering it was Toriyamas bread n butter prior to his editor getting involved to change it to a more of a battle oriented manga so that it can stay afloat but after episode 7, they just drop that aspect and just fly from point A to point B and gather the dragon balls along the way, and it seems like the official episode counts being only 20 episodes might have been decided mid production judging by how much content is getting glossed over now like why Goku and the others are struggling against certain enemies for no reason with only 5 more episodes left which will have to pack in:
- Medibug fusion
- Goma's special forces taking action
- Majin bros taking action
- Glorio inevitably betraying Goku and the others
- Arinsu taking action
- Degesu (potentially) usurping Goma's throne or something of similar nature
- Smmoning the new dragon
- Storming Goma's palace
- Defeating Goma
- The third eye being used
- Rescuing Dende
- Returning to the mortal world after saying their goodbyes
Now while all of these plot points don't seem like a lot at first, it's important to understand that there are only 5 episodes left with little information left regarding if the final set of episodes will be longer than the standard 20+ minutes to make up for all this since DAIMA more than likely won't be getting a second season or more episodes judging by A) the seemingly still ongoing legal battle for the dragon ball IP between Sheuisha and Capsule Corp Tokyo and B) The overall silence from Toei who refuse to talk much about the series, let alone promote it.
What a time to be a dragon ball fan...
