I’m 20 and love working at DOLLAR TREE
So to start this off last time, I put a location and they knocked off my post so I’ll at least say it’s within Ohio… I used to live in Delaware so I’m pretty sure there are like 20 or 30 DT’s in Ohio anyway.
When I lived in Delaware, I had a four days a week seven hours a day $16 an hour job that was awesome because some days we would finish our jobs early and get to go home in the first 2 to 3 hours . It was a company called Acosta. Basically we would go to different ShopRites and stock certain things, depending on what the planogram said or what the managers wanted. Moving to Ohio with family work relating. I worked one very crappy job at a place called Pet Suites . The management there was absolutely god awful. Like you know, it’s bad when day one your coworker says that management is awful but all my coworkers were very nice and fun to be around. The working hours sucks especially for working around animals and it didn’t feel like they treated the animals very well . Basically, the last straw besides treating me like sh** was asking one of the managers if I’d never be able to grow to working with the elderly dogs and taking care of the elderly dogs because most of them were very kind. And their answer since they didn’t really seem to like me was no.(a few days later there was a planned meeting because they were people that I don’t think I met, but they were mistreating dogs and hitting them. Somehow they were there during the day, but once nighttime came and it was time for the meeting not a single soul was there other than the people working the night shift and me, which was the only person in the room outside that wasn’t on shift.😂
With that I was making $13 an hour, and I decided to leave because I didn’t like the working conditions .
After 2 to 3 months, I out of desperation found DOLLAR TREE to work at and the pay looked bad, but my boss agreed to raise my pay at the start and his boss also agreed (I haven’t been getting paid what I’m supposed to, but they’re figuring it out and it’s just a waiting game. My boss told their boss and my bosses boss needs to call a higher boss in order to get this issue resolved because emails don’t seem to work. Lol.
Coming from working at acosta which was mostly stocking shelves and looking at planograms can I get you not taking everything off of 16 feet worth of shelves and re-organizing all of it which sucked.
I hated at the beginning doing the register at DT and really enjoyed stalking, but I’ve slowly been forced I guess and really love doing the register.
I think my boss is one of the younger ones around 30 years old .
I can’t really talk bad about my managers too much but I make fun of them plenty because it’s just me and like for managers and the other associates. I only really see if I come in early morning because I work the night shift.(or evening shift)
With your occasional stupid white old ladies which I thought were the only ones, but they come in all types of colors and shapes like a mixed jumbo bag of dumb .
Working there is nice they clearly enjoy my company and enjoy that I’m around, which is always good . My boss is very respectful sometimes to respectful and sometimes unintentionally disrespectful but it’s usually when s**ts going down the drain. Our truck is extremely delayed. You know the fun stuff.
To explain it one way I’ve got my boss that asks how I am is fun to talk with and when I give a suggestion, he usually goes with it even if I think it’s a bad idea, he sees it my way and turns it into a good idea .
He takes my input, which is kind of cool .
I have another manager who looks like he’s in his 40s, but he’s actually in his 30s ha ha that has plenty of stories from when he was a kid as both the troublemaker and the unintentional troublemaker. Hilarious Anna analogies. : like for example, saying that the rose flavored monster energy drink is like a bunch of clouds getting out of a car:
I have another manager who’s like 40 something and she deals with me being very stupid at times joking bugging her all the time. One day she really will kick my a** 👌 She’s definitely the most fun to talk with and has crazy big family issues that are always hilarious. At least the funny ones.
And of course the manager that came in just a few days if not, maybe a week after I started who’s in her 20s like me however her life is like she’s in her 40s 🤣 Also fun listening to her stories
Bottom line, I made it insanely long post to share that I have yet to have any complaints … other than one thing but that was figured out pretty quickly. My fear in this one scenario was gonna be like a one shot in your route type thing, but my boss actually wants to keep me around because I do my job.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention
They put me on the register to keep me occupied because they would give me tasks to and apparently previous employees of his were just take forever to do a single task that I was like an angel I guess ….
So he started giving me a list of things to do and then I finish the list too fast 😂
So then I was given a list and the register so I’m pretty much guaranteed to have a few things left over for the next day .
Either way I love working there. It’s quite literally the best job I’ve ever worked and if I had a choice between going full-time at target where I’m making 15 an hour or more or there I 100% chose full-time at DT .
Oh yeah, I’m also still in college so there’s that.
Bottom line and the end of my post that I hope doesn’t get taken down because I don’t want to rewrite all of this 😂 —
— I think I somehow work for one of the best DT stores out there and or I’m just looking to have the manager I have. Ps. According to the manager I have and other customers the previous managers were got awful and we’re still cleaning up the aftermath, but even so it’s actually fun working there. OK now I’m done. It’s midnight. I’m sick Good night .🥱
