Communication with EX's BF?

Has anyone had a relationship/communication with your ex's new boyfriend? My ex has been secretive about who she's with because of alimony payments, but he's been introduced to my child. I'd like to be able to meet him since he might be raising my child. Is that unreasonable? how have you gone about it?
