Why does Fane ignore me being undead too?

I chose veiled undead (Dwarf) as my character. Apparently I am supposed to hide the fact, that I am undead, but none of the charadcters I disclosed this to seemed to care a bit. What confuses me (upsets maybe?) most is the fact, that I have Fane in my party and he completely disregards my race (ie. being the same). He just keeps on talking about how he looks for more of his kind and that I can't possibly comprehend, unlike him I could die easily (on the ship) etc. Is this a bug or what?
