In your opinion is Dexter just a traumatized person who got brainwashed, or is he genuinely a sociopath?

Seems like he’s always felt off, and that never felt much. Then he notices he does, it’s just really hard to find. He tells people really heartfelt things, but it’s usually accompanied by deep questions surrounding his killings and what that means for him and those in his life..
