I feel like Dexter should’ve never got involved with Rita.

In my personal opinion. Rita has so much weight (from her past rl and her childhood) that she needs someone that's transparent and that she feels like she really knows. Dexter trying to figure out what a "good boyfriend" is supposed to look like often so he can fit in more is so disingenuous. He will think about big life decisions with her and then think (oh this will totally make me seem normal) I don't even know how Rita can be so blind. You barely know this man he never opens up about anything, and ever since he's entered your life for some odd reason you and your kids have been in danger multiple times. Both Rita and Dexter don't seem to be in a place to get married and have a new baby with all the unhealed trauma they have. I feel as if it was irresponsible on both their parts to have a baby. I just don’t see it as this cute love story that should be romanticized like a lot of others.

I have more to say about this and I understand it's more nuanced than how I put it but this is how I feel so far.

(Also I wrote this after watching season 3 episode four only on episode 5 now.)
