A thought about Original Sin so far (opinion)
I know it's only been 5 episodes (half the season) but I find that I just.... don't care. I'm trying to think about why.
As far as the major plot points go, the fact is that we pretty much know how everything is going to turn out, the main series did a great job of drawing out the events that took place in this time period and answering the questions that it created. Yes there are some smaller plot points building some stories that we only are seeing now, but all of them are pretty inconsequential and small.
What happens is I feel like I'm not really invested, there's no mystery or sense of intrigue for what's going to happen. I don't really care what happens with Deb and her boyfriend, or her school friends. And with Harry's flashbacks we know how it ends with Laura. The Harry/Dexter/Deb family drama is unpacked like crazy in the main series so it doesn't really feel like a central conflict to add anything besides turning Deb into the person we see in the main series already.
If the writers are doing their job right they'll build some suspense, mystery or something to keep it interesting. I'm still holding on to hope and I'll watch the rest of the season still of course. But I just find that the show just feels...small and unimportant.
Wondering if anyone else feels this way?
