Dave the diver cost me my friends

So I was having fun playing Dave the diver when my friend messaged me and said "really dude?"...I replied, "hey what's up" to no response.

Hour later another friend asked why I was playing it and supporting Nexon. I hadn't even known that it was made by them but now none of my friends I played dark and darker will even reply to me since I played the game too long to return it.

Am I in the wrong and should I have done more research?
