Don’t rely on streaming services. Periodt.

A discussion on streaming services. Some people have noted that KaraFun is running into issues tonight, but this could be any streaming service from Tidal, to Beatport, Spotify, and the like. (and funny Tidal went down now too)

As DJ professionals our most critical piece of our entire "being" is our catalog. Be it music, videos, karaoke, etc. Without this we cannot do what we do. And it's a big reason why streaming services should only serve as a backup or something to "fill in" but should never serve as our primary source of our livlihood.

Unfortunately there isn't much recovery from a streaming service going down but to just wait it out. But temporary server outages are but one issue to contend with. Licensing disputes and legal ramifications can absolutely disable a service in an instant.

The bottom line on this. Streaming is a fine supplement to help fill in the gaps but if your business is setup to only (or majority) use streaming, you will have a bad day someday.
