Navigating DACA, Advance Parole, and Employer Sponsorship: Seeking Advice
Hey guys, I am a DACA recipient, and my permit expires in April. I have already applied to get it renewed, but I’m still waiting to hear back from USCIS. I was one of the fortunate individuals who got approved for advance parole, so I was able to visit mi abuela one last time in June. Unfortunately, she passed away in late July (que Dios la bendiga).
Here’s my situation: my employer wants to sponsor me for papers, but I understand that Trump wants to help DACA recipients. Again, I don’t trust anything he says, but if I get one of those H-1B visas, my employer will have full control over me, and that’s what scares me. Given the situation happening all over the country at the moment, it’s making me think twice.
I have my first appointment with a lawyer this Saturday, so I’ll keep everyone posted. My question is: has anyone here gone through this process? Has anyone here left the country on advance parole, and are there any disadvantages? Gracias y que Dios los bendiga.
Edit: My DACA just got approved till 01/22/27. Good news.
