Who else is getting low mileage on their '24 Crosstrek? I feel ripped off.

I did my research. I test drove other vehicles. When I narrowed it down to two choices, I chose the Crosstrek because of the advertised city and highway mileage. Says it right on the sticker.

I have never come close to 27 city / 34 highway. I'm at about 5000 miles now.

I wasn't sure if the computer mileage was accurate, so when my car was very close to empty, I put in 3 gallons as an experiment. I'm at 50 miles and the needle almost at the E line and I'm getting the low gas warning already.

When I look at the dash reading, it says I am getting 21.5 mpg. I feel every tank has been averaging about this same mpg.

Anyone else experiencing similar?

This is mostly driving in the suburbs. Not terrible traffic. Not many lights. I do not drive aggressively. I coast with my foot off the pedal whenever possible. I do not use X mode or Sport mode.

I feel ripped off, but not sure what us consumers can do about it. It feels like false advertising, but I expect the dealership will make every excuse or just tell me sorry (not sorry).

While I'm griping, by having to control music/podcasts through my bluetooth, driving actually feels more dangerous. I miss my CD player. I don't have a youtube, prime, or spotify subscription and I hate listening to commercial after commercial.

I've been having this issue for months. Purchased it in September 2023. I noticed the poor mileage so kept records on multiple tanks. Id keep the receipt, and calculate the mileage vs. how many gallons I put in (how ever many gallons it takes to fill gets calculated with the miles I traveled since the previous fill) then repeat...
