Looking for a simple crochet project to distract me from my PhD

Hello! I'm hoping you lovely people can help me with my next project. I am beginner/intermediate.

I am finishing my PhD, and I am looking for a simple project that I can mindlessly work on. I typically crochet amigurumi, but my brain right now is like NOPE. Lol I need a project that I can work on mindlessly without having to look at a pattern everytime I start a new row.

I assume a blanket would be ideal in this case, but I've never made one and I'm a little intimidate.
